Full Title

Covered Entities are both real-world entities and their digital representations that are covered by any one of: (1) Laws and Regulations of their respective jurisdictions, (2) Industry associations that gather to create a set of criteria that all voluntarily agreed to support.

Context

There are several cases of covered entities that come to mind that should be important to Identity Management]'

  1. The US Cares Act and the resultant HIPAA laws and regulations apply to all medical care providers Electronic Health Records (EHR),
  2. The PKI Certificate Authorities and Browser providers have banned together in the CA/B forum to establish the rules for certificates that are created by the CAs and verified the browsers.
