Attendees:

Meeting Minutes

  • Tom Jones reviewed the overall Usable Requirements document the team has been updating.

https://wiki.idesg.org/wiki/images/7/73/Usable_Requirments_Update.docx. He recommended that User Experience use Roles instead of Core Operations as discussed in the Functional Model document. He also suggested that four of the seven roles are compatible with work the team is doing. These are: Identity Provider, Intermediaries, Attribute Provider, Relying Parties. User is out of scope. His recommendation means changes in other areas of our requirements document should be made as well.

  • USABLE-1. USABILITY PRACTICES - updated
  • Entities conducting digital identity management functions MUST apply user-centric design, and industry-accepted appropriate usability guidelines and practices, to the communications, interfaces, policies, data transactions, and end-to-end processes they offer, and remediate significant defects identified by their usability assessment.
  • The team will resume discussion with Noreen Whysel at 2:30 p.m. EST.
  • Adjourn
    • 12:49 p.m. EST
  • Meeting resumed at 2:30p.m. EST: With Mary Hodder, Jim Kragh and Tom Jones.
  • The main issues that were identified in Noreen’s research were marked MUST or ALL and she suggested we need to make sure these are understandable. Tom suggested that it was OK to have MUST appear in the requirements, but questioned its meaning in the supplemental guidance. USABLE-7 was given as an example. The use of “must” is the general meaning in the supplemental guidance. The use of “MUST” is used in the requirements. In the supplemental guidance, the team agreed to change “must” to “will” in three instances.
  • Links need to be updated in Usable Requirements Update document.
  • Tom Jones to update all changes discussed during the meeting, including pathways references (Mary Hodder and Jim Kragh to work on updating those).
  • Second half of meeting adjourned at 3:15 p.m. EST.

  • Next UXC meeting is scheduled for November 21, 2017
