The primary uses for a system may be listed as
- Registration for a new digital identity
- Credentialing and life-cycle of credentialing
- Using a single digital identity to access multiple online services
- Using trusted attribute store
- Proofing some attributes (verification of ownership)
- Authorizing access to attribute values
Since IdEF is seen as a conglomoration of individual trust frameworks, two types of scenarios can be visualized. One is the set of interactions within a particular trust framework. And the second is interactions across trust frameworks.
