Minutes
- Kim sent out a list of deadlines that each committee should observe. Email also contained information about meeting with someone from one of the pilots during the week of September 14. Privacy went through FMO feedback and seems to be a lot of similarities with UX. UX didn’t change anything in the requirements/guidance last week and Mary had sent that feedback to Kim last week. Mary will send email to David (one of the pilots) to meet on Thursday or Friday this week. Mary recommended in the chair’s call last week, that holding one or two lengthy meetings to discuss status, helps move things forward. Having a joint discussion with Privacy, Security and UX members would be beneficial to UX members.
- Mary opened the “open issues” document sent September 11. Yellow markup includes pilot feedback. This is their first look at the supplemental guidance (must vs. should changes).
- USABLE-2 – the pilots questioned whether this requirement is too burdensome. Under references, they asked for additional references, standards, or guidelines.
- USABLE-5 – UX had changed must to should. Discussing with David at the end of the week might make sense. Third sentence in supplemental guidance. All sites should provide all feasible functionality to any user with a compatible internet connected device as those available to individuals without disabilities “on various devices or note that some functionality may be missing.” (text added).
- USABLE-6 – In supplemental guidance, pilots asked for effective feedback mechanisms. This was meant to take place in an interval basis. Added “at regular intervals” to first sentence: All websites (changed to “members”) should provide a mechanism to gather feedback at “regular intervals” from users on site usability, adjusting the site design in response when appropriate.
- USABLE-7 – Supplemental Guidance - UX will bring this recommendation up with the pilots this week. Have the pilots looked at the materials on the wiki? Pilots asked about examples of effective-requirements gathering mechanisms. UX added “An example of a site that handles responses to Do Not Track (DNT) signals in this manner is medium.com.”
- INTEROP-9 USER REDRESS – Mary suggested UX might want to work with Privacy Committee on this. Suggestion was to discuss with David/pilots. ARR resigned as an IDESG member. Noreen will pull out wording from ARR where she speaks about redress. Mary will schedule meeting with David/pilots for either Thursday or Friday this week.
- Next regularly meeting, September 22, 2015.
